I've seen some vague mentions, on gsmarena and CNET Asia, that the Z8 has been recalled in the UK and pulled from shops.

NOw I do live in the UK and I still see it in the vodafone shop, O2 shop and Carphonewarehouse. But what's this I hear about a recall? Any info about this? I will inquire at the shops this weekend...

Or are these just wild rumours?

These are just rumours!

The only possible reason for a temporary lack of stock would be if all new units are being flashed with a new firmware.

You can rest assured that the Z8 has not been pulled from sale!

Yeh, rumours spread like wildfire on the net. all the evidence is there though that the phone is still being sold - still on the vodafone, o2 and carphonewarehouse websits, and last time I looked still in stores.

I hate the rumour mills lol.

Either way, if they ARE being prepped for a new firmware, then this is good news indeed and I hope we all get a new firmware soon toooooooooo

Guys - http://www.3g.co.uk/3GForum/showthread.php?p=346130#post346130

And from my email conversation with the guy from Vodafone, through the official Vodafone contact us channels:

"As I said on the 3G forum Vodafone have now discontinued the Motorola Z8 due to numerous software faults on the handset."

Hence why I have the N95 now. They swapped them as a goodwill gesture.

So the handsets not been recalled, but at least one operator has lost all faith in it.

I somehow doubt this is true. I will be asking Vodafone and Motorola about this officially next week!

Will be interested to see what you find out Stuart. I'll keep watching as I still think there's a great phone trying to get out of some wonky software!

Just for the record - Vodafone Edinburgh princess street had none on display last Friday, and Vodafone Glasgow Forge had none on display last Saturday and no empty slots like it was out of stock. When I asked the guy in Glasgow he said that phones come and go all the time and when their last z8s finished they weren't replaced.

I'm taking the Z8 back to them in the morning so I'll keep an eye out and see if there's still none.

The Voda flagship store in Oxford Street had them in stock yesterday, as did the Voda stores in Brighton, Bromley, and Richmond.

None in Glasgow Forge again today, except the one I handed back of course.

Weird ... let us know how you get on when you speak to them.

I went to the Oxford st store nearest to Marble Arch today, and while they had the Z8 on display, I noticed that in the "Autumn" price guide it wasn't mentioned or listed at all. Only Moto phone in there was the K1 hahha.
