Well this WAS confirmed by a 02 representitive as they were going through release dates of other handsets with me, as theve cocked up my accounts big style and they are looking to re-imburse me with a new handset of my choice.
This isn't a Motorola issue per-say, it's a UIQ issue. For whatever reason, UIQ hates copying things to SIM cards.
So why have the feature enabled on the software? If its a problem fix it! Simple! Or have the phone store on sim without the option to do it. To me its a problem, and all things that dont work correctly should be sorted then phones dont get bad press.
Has anybody tried to copy anything to SIM card from phone eg texts or contacts, then when you put the card in another phone it does not see them? Its happend to me, im trying to back up contacts/messages etc before the phone goes back but im not having much joy.
That can be another issue for Motorola to sort, or is it just me?
Security, why oh why does a phone have no security? Eg switch phone on, asks for sim pin, i cancel, i can get access to anything on phone apart from content on sim! To me this is a big no no.
Also no option to delete past call historys eg names sms etc unless you do a reset.
Also the PC sync software, i got vista, but tried it on XP it serves no use compared to the likes of nokia suite. For example i liked to use the nokia suite to create a text message while phone is connected to pc. Maybe its be been picky but i think its some small things that make or break a phone.
I still got phone as it hasnt been sent back yet until they get their fingers out and provide the information to send back.
RE firmware, if they are going to issue one will they take on board all the little problems and software issues? ie will it be a software update to introduce pin codes and access etc?
I was sick of the lock function, put it in pocket, hear a beep and hey presto take phone out pocket and its unlocked.
Surely all phone manufactures should do a field study now before releasing phones to get an opinion on them, instead of releasing a phone with problems which winds everybody up and then gets a bad reputation.
As the title says, ive got to let the z8 handset go! Its main reason is due to the network letting me get a new contract but without letting a number been transfered, after a sales team said i could. - But im not getting into that.
Im not happy with the 'locking/access' functions on the phone eg no phone lock, so anybody can get access to phone content. Its starting to switch on/off at random. Battery life is terrible. Keys to close together so hard to text (got big fingers as well) PC suite does nothing compared to the likes of nokias (eg able to text of PC when connected to phone) Amongst other little niggles. I did originally like the phone but its starting to irritate me now. So its going to be on its way back in a day or to.
Or you can copy them direct to your memory card, using the usb connection lead, with the connection setting set to usb data mode, and drop them into the 'images' folder. Then browse you folders using the file manager (make sure usb lead is disconnected otherwise it wont show up) head to the theme you want, view then click on options and select theme. Or something along the lines!
